New member !

Hello everyone !
My name is Fred, ive just found this site and i think its great :)

Anyway, Im a "beginner" to guitar playing. My guitar is an Aria Pro 2 Magna series wich i bought 7 years ago. And i bougth recently a MG30DFX from marshall.
I was playing punk music before with some friend but now that maturity is there.. :) I started to like other style of music and the desire to play guitar have come back.

I would like to have some suggestion for a new guitar. Mine would be okay for some time but i didnt took care of it all these years.. I want to buy something more in shape(new) and maybe a litlle better.

I was looking at some epiphone Les Paul standard, that would be in my price range but i read mixed reviews on this guitar. Any input would be appreciated :)

I can't help but recommend a New Fender if you want a bright sound.

Hi and welcome to guitartricks, well there is a little of everything here, whatever you like you can find it here, on the les paul model, its what ever you like, if your a Jazz or Blues Player all the time the les paul model is good or Rock for that Matter but my self i prefer a Fender Tele but its what ever you want, everyones different, thats why they make Chevys, Fords and Dodges i guess, oh yea i like a Chevy myself lol, hey good luck what ever you choose.

Yep, welcome aboard. In general Epi makes quality stuff, as long as it's not the very bottom of the line. One drawback to consider of LP's though is their weight...could get pretty heavy on your shoulder.

that weight makes some great sustain tho........

in general, LP's are good all-around guitars. my SG also is very good all-around.
strats are very comfortable to play on, but i have always liked humbucker-type guitars.

I'm new too. Jack here, second time beginner. Played rock in high school 25 years ago. Midlife crisis ya know. Told my wife its either a 19 year old, a ferrari, or a guitar. She was instrumental (pardon the pun) in helping me choose.

Great site, everyones very cool, havn't met a guitar snob here yet.

Yeah, stick with the well known brands. Fender, Gibson etc...
Les Pauls are really heavy back breakers.
You'll get a better deal if you buy used... just check out the guitar beforehand.

Welcome to GT Fred. I knew someone who owned a very inexpensive epiphone les paul and the sound quality and playability of the guitar was
amazing.

Hey the other new guy here. I'm a fender lover like Grambo. My second guitar was an '89 squier II Stratocaster made in korea and I highly recommend it. Got a friend with a mexi-strat you couldn't pry out of his hands with a crow bar. You can find them for around $200.00 but stick with an older one. The quality with the older ones seems to be more consistant. It also got great reviews on harmonycentral.com. The best thing to do though is to go to a shop, play a few, and if you like one, get it. Remember, reviews are usually based on personal preference, unless of course people experience common problems with one particular model.
