This is just a general question. I'm a poor college student and I don't have the money to really do the mods to my guitar that I want. But if I wanted to say, mute out a humbucker on my Epiphone Dot Studio, could I just put tape over it? Like gaff tape or something? The reason I ask is because I think this is what Tom Delonge did for a while before he got his signature Strat. Anywho, leave me some feedback, for this is post numero uno for me.

I'm a noob, deal with it biach.

Why have a humbucker if you're not going to use it?....

What is it exactly you're trying to achieve by "muting" a humbucker? If you could clarify we could probably give you more helpfully advice.
Don't worry too much about me, ignore me long enough and I'll go away.

What I'm suggesting involves my Epiphone Dot Studio. It has a bridge and a neck humbucker. What I'm wanting to acheive is a Tom Delonge esque sound like his Gibson ES-335 reissue but without spending lots of money on a Dirty Fingers overwound humbucker. The problem is not that my guitar is too loud, i just want to eliminate the mixing that takes place between the two humbuckers and get a single raw sound out of my bridge pickup.

When you turn down or switch off the neck pickup all you are playing thru is the bridge.
