I see it as a simple issue. If you want to play a guitar that sounds like a les paul then your best bet is a les paul or an acceptable knockoff. If you want to play a guitar that sounds like a tele or strat then your best bet is a tele or strat or an acceptable knockoff.

There is no better or worse between the two companies.
