Strat or Tele?
It's midnight wine red. I bought it in 2000, apparently the first year it came out. I don't know if they still make the colour.

Thanks for the details! I'll be sure to give the songs a listen once I get home from work.

Finally got to listen to the tracks. I'm really diggin' the tone and the songs. Your singer's got a great voice. The pickup sounds like it still has some nice snap to it. What kind of wood is your tele's body, ash, alder, popler...? Anyway, ya'll sound great! Keep it up...

I actually have no idea what kind of wood the Tele is. Its a Standard Mexican Tele if that helps. When I bought it I didn't know anything about anything really.

Thanks for the compliments on the band. We are recording a new CD right now actually and we are almost done. If you live in Ottawa, Ontario...you can check us out because we will not be posting the tracks on the site. However we may mail some if the demand is high enough.

Sorry about that, I'm kind of new and I'm still getting sued to this. But just for the record, it was more of a hey(casual) c'mon, there are threads for les pauls. but sorry It won't happen again.

Been a Tele player since 87'. My first Tele (a MIJ Blk/white guard/Maple) Squire, although retired, is still sitting downstairs in the rack, tuned and ready to go.
At the time, everyone around me had either BC Rich's or Strats, I wanted someting different. I saw the "People Get Ready" video with Jeff Beck playing an old 50's Tele and said "That's the one for me!!!" It served me well for 10 yrs on the road and was only put to second string when I got my 97' Blueburst Tele Plus with the Middle Strat pup I needed for Brent Mason sounding stuff.
A Tele has the greatest wiry snarl, an sound that the Strat is just a little too polite for, in the bridge position anyway. The Tele is basic, just two pups , a Three way switch , and two pots. The sounds's gotta come from your hands. You really gotta play a Tele to make it sound good. By the same token, the bare bones sound almost MAKES you play it. There's no cushy midrange to fall back on like on a Les Paul. This is probably why Tele players tend to lean towards "Hot Rod" styles; Gatton, Mason, Volkelart,Bryant, Beck,Skaggs,Lee,Hiland,Anderson,ect...
A Tele is tough too. It's solid, and with a few basic parts you're ready to go. It ain't fragile niether!!!

that's cause that question had already been asked like 50 million times before you even joined... so not too many people were keen to answer it again.. I'm not saying it's anything you did wrong, I'm just saying, it's been asked before.

Back in '96 or so, I had Fender make me a TeleStrat in their custom shop. Why? Well . . . because I LOVED the sound of a Strat! I also like the sound of a Tele.
But I never did play a Strat I liked! Never felt right for me. I've purchased several. Never kept one longer than maybe 2 or 3 months. (I'm more of a Gibson man.) I've just never been able to play a Strat as well as I play my PRS, Gibson guitars, or my Tele.
SO . . . I had one made. I play Tele's just fine. So I have 3 pick ups. A 5 way switch (that looks just like the original 3 way Tele switch) I kept the bridge Tele pick up. Added the mid and neck Strat PU. And BINGO!!!!!
Man, I have the best of both worlds! It sounds like a Tele when I want it to. It sounds like a Strat when I want it to. And it ALWAYS plays like a Tele! :)
So, umm . . . er . . . . how should I vote! LOL
Oh, yeah! Fender now makes a model like mine. I forget what it's called. The Nashville something or other, I think.
I suggest you go try it out. :)
