The best way it think there is to learn your scales is pick one. Then learn the sheet out of it. You should know it all the notes on 1 string for each of the strings 2 note per string 3 note per string and even 1 or 4 note per string if your crazy. You know it acending, decending, intervalically (in 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, 7ths, and octaves to start with) ect. The reason to learn one thing well first (at least how this helped me) is when moving on the different modes, patterns, and exotic scales you can see how they relate to what you already know really well.

But, starting off, play a scale pattern whatever it is and play it up and down in position then move the root up one half step and continue this untill you run out of neck, then go back down to the nut. Try to visualize the shape of the scale in your mind while you do this exercize and within a week of doing this every day you should start to see the scale without even playing it.

Don't let yourself be stuck praticing the same old stuff the same old ways. There are millions of interesting ways to practice that same old stuff

Here's a lesson on Intervals that may help you understand what he meant by that:

For example: in scale degree numbers for 3rds 1 3 2 4 3 5 4 6 5 7 6 8 ect.. now these arenn't fret numbers but the 1 is the root 2 is the second note in the scale 3rd is well you should get it.
Ex.2 A major
E----------------------------------------------------4---5--4--7
B-------------------------------------------5---7-5---7---------
G------------------------------4---6-4-7-6---7------------------
D-----------------4---6-4-7-6---7-------------------------------
A----4---5-4-7-5---7--------------------------------------------
E--5---7---------------------------------------------------------

repeat the process in intervals of 4ths (1 scale degree larger than a 3rd) and so on
