For blues classic rock and jazz what pick ups would you recommend to put into a gibson sg??Also have any of you had experience with crate amps???Looking for an amp also

I put a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge position of my SG. It's pretty versatile. It is a hot pup, but to get that bluesy tone, I just turn the volume knob on the guitar down a bit to around 5 or 6....
Just my opinion, but stay away from Crate amps...

The tone zone is well liked on this forum. I think PonyOne still uses one.
I like the sound of crate amps, but everyone I've known who has owned one has had reliability issues so I would be pretty careful about buying one.

Yeah, my first amp was a little solid state Crate with an 8" speaker. It lasted about a year before it died on me. They don't seem to be reliable, but then again, people say the same thing about Marshall's. They're like cars I guess, you get a lemon every once in a while.

Before you go and switch out the pickups on your guitar, spend 6 months with it and really get to know it. Why spend money on something where you won't know the true difference because you never got used to the sound.
I had my Telecaster for 3 years before I finally opted to throw in humbuckers. I had to find out what I was really looking for. I had done gigs, practice, everything I could, even recording with it stock. I would recommend waiting before switching out pickups.

You say that like it's a frickin' antique or something! I love my first 1984 Yamaha SGB1000 so much that I bought another one just like it on eBay a couple of years ago. I put a Tone Zone at the bridge, and a PAF Pro at the the neck, and those pups bring out so much more of what I love about those guitars, that the second one is now my main axe.Careful to the point of buying something else altogether! :p

All I meant was that PonyOne seems to be quite familiar with change.

Precisely.

apparently you all hate crate amps... I happen to know someone who gets these amazing tones out of just an epiphone les paul (a quite gorgeous one actually with it's blueish-greenish-blackish quilt top) and a crate amp (not sure exactly what kind, I think he has 2 or 3 different crate amps) I have no clue on the reliability, but he gets some awesome tones... then again, he's just a really good guitarist, so it might just be him... lol
