To get started, try these steps
1) Learn how to hold the guitar
2) Learn the parts of the guitar
3) Start with a very simple chromatic excercise (1,2,3,4) on one string
4) Learn all the notes on the low E string starting at the 1st fret to 12th fret
E,F,F#,G,G#,ect..
5) Learn all the notes on the A string starting at the 1st fret to 12th fret
A,Bb,C,C#,D,D#,ect..
6) Then learn some 1st position bar chords (which are movable on the neck)
7) Learn some 2nd position bar chords

You should be able to accomplish most of that in a few weeks, then build from there.
Most importantly is to practice, practice, practice!! Using a metronome will build your timing, and work on alternate picking when doing those chromatic scales!
