Hi all,

New to this site, but looks like a great one! I recently bought a new american strat with the delta tone set-up, and am really disappointed with it. I have a couple other fenders which I love, a fender lead II I bought new in 1980, and an early 80's mij bullet which both have excellent pickups and great sound. I bought a standard strat knowing I would probably want to swap the pickups out anyways, and after playing this thing at home, there's no doubt left in my mind - it's just ho-hum. My question is, what pickups would best emulate the sound Colin James gets. I'm playing through a Fender HRD. I've seen him play, and he plays a strat through some kind of fender, not sure what though, but what a sweet sound! Thanks for any and all advice.

you need to go to dimarzio.com and check out their hum-cancelling pickups, they have a freakin wide variety of cool pickups, take the pickup finder test and it'll show you the 3 top choices for your style of music.
I am Comfortably Numb... :D

Oh yeah...STICK IT TO THE MAN!

Thanks for the advice. I checked the site out - great aside from the lack of sound clips for many of the pickups. Very helpful, though, in tailoring your own package. Didn't realize I could get a super distortion humbucker in a single coil package, so that's good to know too.
