Hey Everyone Haven't Posted in a while i was wondering how were all of you at guitar when you first started how long did it take you to play slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs pretty Fluently because ive noticed my friends havent really gotten it down and i got it down fairly quickly maybe the first month i can't remember but my playing was smooth compared to other kids i know i find it kinda weird maybe i have an aptitude for it

Hi I'm new here but I'v been playing for about 5 years. It took me about two months to move power chords(couldn't even play teen spirit!ugg..a cold shudder...)and I can't quite remember how long my progression actually took but I do know it took me a long time to get down any proper technique.but when I did I flew through it.I started playing metal(slayer..etc) and that really forced me on in leaps and bounds. Now all I want to play is Flamenco but hey.Look at your favorite guitarist(no doubt that will change many times over the years)and how they stand, hold the pic, fret hand positioning and mimic that as close as you can.I have found this really helped me when I was listening to Metallica,I wanted to play like Kirk Hammet and I found this really improved the way you play the music out.hardcore study for one year can do more than mediocre "hobbie playing" can in 3,trust me on this,I kick myself for time wasted! :)

four n a half? i think.
actually one of the very first songs i got down was purple haze. an easy song. with alot of the slides/pulloffs/etc. it took me like a day cuz i knew it by heart already.

thats basically the trick. find a song you know and play it.

I'd say I had a rudimentary grasp of those techniques within the first two months of playing.
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

I've seen also that my friends don't learn those things as quickly as me. And very little of it is natural talent. I'll bet you have drive, and practice alot. That's all you need. MOST players don't have it. Congratulations.

I'm still trying to get it. HAHA. Just practice and it will come to you in time.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.
