I'm thinking about getting an M-Audio Delta 66 PCI soundcard.....Anyone have one of these? The way I'm understanding it is that this soundcard will allow me to record 4 tracks simultanesly with 1/4" inputs. Added to the M-Audio 2496 card I have now, I could record up to 6 tracks using both cards and a mixer....

I'm really looking for a card that can record 6-8 tracks at the same time that has xlr inputs (1/4" inputs will work, I can just get the adapters for the mic cables). Any suggestions on a card that will do this for around $400?

You can get a used Digi 001 (450.00) on Ebay that has 2 mic pres, 8 balanced inputs, then you would be entering the world of Pro Tools, which is pretty much the industry standard.

Thanks for that suggestion, but I think I found what I'm looking for, The M-Audio Delta 1010 PCI Digital Multitrack. 10 inputs/10 outputs for $449 new at SamAsh....I have some pre-amps, so I'm not worried about the interface having pre-amps....

Anyone have experience with this interface? And can I really record 10 tracks at the same time? The way they word all the technical stuff confuses me (not hard to do, haha).
