Were doing a project in school with stick figures. He said we have to make each body part a symbol, but when i try to tween it to the next frame it doesnt work. The line comes up dotted. The teacher is never here so I can't ask for help, and no one else knows what to do. I have mx 2004 at home (hee hee pirated) so I have more time to try.

Yea your right. You just move the arm a little each frame for that kinda animation rather than something just floating across the screen.
