I'm not sure why you're putting "rich" in quotation marks, the word had no ambiguous meaning. If you can't hear the contrapuntal motion in the bass of losfer words perhaps you should do some eartraining. I'd suggest working with a piano if you can't find any exercises on the internet. Just play notes and start matching them up. Then try to play different intervals and internalize the pitches. Eventually you will be able to hear music more clearly. I'm not totally sure what you meant by "weak." Did you mean melodically or harmonically weak? Did you think it was structured incorrectly? Was the rhythm weak? I mean, 12/8 timing isn't my favorite, but I don't know if I'd call that weak...I'm just not sure what aspect you're referring to. Perhaps you consider the mixture concerning the major 6th chords weak? I personally enjoy it, but I guess mixture like that can get a bit old. The b5 chord in measure 29 may bore you as well, especially after it uses the common tone (Bb) to move into a common tone diminished chord a half step above the root. After all, common-tone diminished chords are only some of the more complex chromatic harmonies. Dee was written solely by Randy Rhodes. The discussion here is of Ozzy's music. Randy Rhodes is not Ozzy Osbourne, but is instead, in fact, Randy Rhodes.

I see what you mean about difference in tastes. The atonal howl of Arch Enemy or guitar wankery without direction is pretty awesome stuff. I mean, prefering music sans-melody certainly shows you have tastes differing from my own. Although now I'm certain you're not calling Iron Maiden's MELODIES weak, because Arch Enemy technically doesn't HAVE one since he's not singing actual notes so much as atonal screams. And don't reply with "that's the style of MUSIC lol!" because I don't care. I'm talking about harmony and melody here. I'm talking about complex, non-generic music that bothers with complexity for something other than the sake of complexity. Yeah, as much as I like to listen to this generic corpse metal or whatever it is, I have some actual melodies to appreciate.

I remember reviewing the Trivium CD "Ascension" for my college radio metal station. I didn't even bother shelving that. It sounds exactly like everyone else, just like Arch Enemy, Bury Your Dead, GZR, and all those other bands whose members try to pass off as...what's the word...musicians. I wish people would stop trying to be Children of Bodom, because it's not working out. All we're getting is a bunch of bands for teenage girls who like COB and can't tell the difference between Bodom and a bad version of Bodom.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Arch Enemy had the respect to at least try and pull off a half-assed cover of "Aces High." It's too bad the vocalist sings almost entirely wrong notes...if those can even be considered notes...or singing.

I want the P-funk!

My band is better than yours...
