I think a lot of this comes down to Iron Maiden being comprised of great musicians who a lot of people just don't get while Ozzy was great at what he did (which worked in the context of Black Sabbath and his solo stuff), but really never could have gone anywhere if it weren't for the great musicians who carried him to fame.
