I'm not sure what podcasting is exactly, however, this package is a great deal it appears. I have a question though, is the mic that comes with this good for recording vocals or is it just good for live sound? I really want a mic that is going to record quality vocals, if this mic is good for that then this is a great kit for me. How does the mic in the package compare to the MXL vocal mic that is the same price when sold separtely?

Here's the link for the kit

it will be fine for recording vocals,(acoustic instruments etc. too)
its a very versatile low end mic
with a good tone and frequency response for the price.
they're not a high end mic, so dont expect hight end results,
but that being said they're better than most else in the price range for
low-end recording , and I dont think it will dissapoint.

might be wise to invest in a pop filter also

it reduces the amount of plosives (P and B sounds) of the singer,
which causes air to get pushed and sometimes creates a low popping sound.
id say it is a pretty essential tool if you plan to do vocal recording,
you can save yourself some cash by making your own,
with a pair of tights and a coat hanger,(or wherever your imagination leads you)
just bend the wire coat hanger into a 6" circle and stretch the stocking over it, then place it about 3 to 4" infront of your mic :)
