New Guitar!

Just got a Les paul standard Raw power, It was $1900 on Musicians friend, but anyways i love the tone but....the lead i play even when high end is pretty far up and the pickups are close to the strings, I dont get a piercing sound you know, it is kinda dull and hard to hear, but I havent taken off the strings that came with the guitar which I have no clue what kind they put on them...maybe that's the problem. But let me know what i could do to make my leads pierce more like my Ibanez. thanks
