Help i can't read tabs!
# 1
Alright... if you read a tab at the top it will say what the tuning is... so u tune to that tuning. Then there should be six lines. correct? the lowest string is the lowest line get it?? Then each number represents a fret, then you play that fret at the certain time like this...
|-------------|--------------------| <-- high e
|-------------|--------------------| <-- B
|o-----------o|-4--4--4--4--2------| <-- G
|o-----------o|-4--4--4--4--2------| <-- D
|-------------|-2--2--2--2--0------| <-- A
|-2-2-2-2h0-2-|--------------------| <-- low E
Each person has their own way of tabbing and it is usually put at the top of the page... but on this one... the little circles mean repeat, the 'h' means hammer down, and the vertical lines are just separators it looks better in smaller font size. ok try this little piece out and tell me if you get it down ok?

an easy way to start is
E------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------
A------------------------------------------
E------------------------------------------
that is what u will see when its blank the E/A/D/G/B/E are ur strings the bottom E is ur bass string or lowest sounding string.
E------------------------------------------o open string
B------------------------------------------o open string
G------------------------------------------o open string
D---2-------------------------------------- second finger second fret
A---2------------------------------------- first fringer second fret
E------------------------------------------o
the o means open string (no fingers on it)
the 2 tells u what fret to hold for the chord
in this case its Eminor..
keep it simple at first dont worry about hammer on's etc till u get the basics have fun

Akira says;
"i was expecting some 3476 string string skipping with some 23489172343 octave sweeps and some alt picking runs at 345734237623572bpm in 234872364781246164516th notes across your 2384723648724627348623478264 fret guitar"

so you play the chord in the same line as the number?

don't sweat it, i'm in the same boat as you are - so if you can't read tabs yet START SIMPLE!
look up the ODE TO JOY tab - this is the first one i started on
before clicking on the link below - make sure your popup blocker is turned on!
http://www.guitartabs.cc/fetchfile.php?fileid=1798588
you should know this one - and it should help you "learn" to read them because you know how it should sound!

That is on the main page of this site. It's all a beginner will ever need. Really. That's where I started.
