Opinion

I have a Fender HotRod Deluxe 2x12, a Fender Frontman 25r, and a lehle dual a/b switch to play out of both, and a Carvin custom built guitar, with 2 seymour duncan sing-coil active pickups, and 1 humbucker active pickup. I want you guy's opinion on what I should get next. Some guitarists I know say I should go with a distortion pedal, but my amps have decent distortion. Most of the guys say I should get a delay pedal, but I honestly don't see myself using it at all. I was thinking since my 212 is a tube amp, I might want to get a pre-amp, but I'm not sure.

What are your guys' opinion, if I could only one of those above. Or maybe something else? I dunno.

[font=trebuchet ms]Uhh, who says you need to get anything else? I find pretty much any tone I want with just my guitar and amplifier. Sometimes, I even use the reverb. :rolleyes:

If you don't see yourself using delay much, then you don't seem to be a good candidate for the "Tap-Dancin' School of Too-Many-Stomp-Boxes".

It ain't what gear you've got - its what you do with it. Either of those amps, with that guitar, should allow you to produce some fine sounds. Spend some time working out the details of control settings on the guitar and the amp(s), and the 'touch' you bring to the pick and the strings.[/font]

I agree; I've had very little need for stop boxes since I've had my Sunn 1200s: it generates the tones I like and for the limited times I'd like to add a little something else, it just isn't worth it to pick up stomp boxes.

I do have a few as well as a Heil Talk Box which I'll probably work back into my rig some day, but for now I'm simply enjoying good natural tone and don't see much need to spoil it with effects.

Oh, I'm fine with controlling the tone, it's not that I need anything, it's just that I want to try something new. I play for/write songs for two bands, they both play different styles of music, so I'm alright with my diversity in what I play, I just want something new toy with.

Hmm, i would say you should get a wah pedal if you play rock/metal for those solos, a distortion pedal for rock/metal or if you dont play rock/metal, go for an overdrive pedal, delay, reverb or chorus pedal. I recommend boss pedals, and if you're going for the wah pedal - go for a cry baby, i have a 53Q (the latest model) and it's awesome - very versatile. Enjoy!

a delay pedal can add alot to a slow solo, it's one of my favorites to use on a solo, but other then that I don't use it either other then for a slapback when I need it.

but I'd say, as far as fun toys, I'd say a chorus, and you could set up as stereo between your two amps. either that or a wah, just cause they are fun. or just go for a multi-effects if all you want to do is play around with it. they can be quite entertaining.
