It's my second day of learning on my acoustic guitar and I already got stuck on something. I know all the major chords and they sound ok (as they can sound in the second day :) ), but I have a problem with single notes. How can you make them sound clearly? Do I have to push harder on the frets (then I don't hear anything), or less (it still doesn't sound right)? Or do I have to play harder with my right hand?

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere I couldn't find it, and nothing of this type is written in any guitar trainer I've read...

hey Dark thats a good question try playing a chord then taking off all fingers but one and hitting that note keeping the same pressure, But dont press too hard or the note will sound off!! its trial and error, as the action on ur guitar might be high or low... but as with anything the more u practice the easier it will become  so keep rocking dude look forward to hearing some songs from u in the future :D

Thanks I'll try that as soon as I'll be able to exercise again
I've practiced for 8 hours yesterday and 2 hours today and I'm wondering why my back and hands hurt... :)

yes, that's what I found out from the web and from my own experience ... I shouldn't practice too much, but once I get started I don't feel like stopping. But at least this way I went through the first 3 weeks of a 6 week trainer in one day...
Then, when I start seeing blurry and I can't get even the basic chords right, I know it's deffinetly time to stop.
BTW got any tips on stoping the pain? I feel like playing again and It's kind of hard...

If your hand is sore Stop,Rest!! try to relax when you practice specialy if you are a bigginner.. you will have more tension in your hand... im playing guitar for 12 years and I had to stop playing guitar for 8 months because of tendonitis!!

ok... i think i'll take today off... i'll just take a day of theory...
My right shoulder hurts a lot, especially in one spot in the center... Any idea what it could be? I know I got it because I sat in a weird position, but I hope it will pass shortly....

Try to sit up straight!! I did lots of theory when I was taking time off from my guitar and dont try to rush learning the guitar!! it takes time, slow down!! not everything has to be learned in one day dude.. it will come to u one way or another and to get proper technique takes a while!! :D

yes but after school starts I won't have that much time... but I know that playing for over 8 h a day won't help either...
The problem is that I have to look at my fingers to see what chords I play and I usually can't sit straight as I do that, but I know some day these chords will seem so natural I won't have to look... I've always wandered how all the great metal guitarists manage to play without looking and moving fast...

thank you! :) Can't wait to practice my own songs!
Right now the only thing I can do right is a "CAGED" thing... these chords played in this order, a few times each, following a beat that feels right and it sounds ok... is this a good exercise for beginners?
Sorry if I'm asking too many questions...

Yep practicing those chords in that sequence is fine :D Try learning some simple songs and playing along with them or get yourself a metronome.. its a guitarists best friend  and you are not asking too many questions at all.. thats how u learn

I have a metronome in a guitar trainer program I've found online... I've tried practicing with it too.
I have to find some good simple songs to play... I searched for some yesterday and instead I found some guitar tabs from metal bands... and through them I found the tab for Burzum's "Dunkelheit"... and I decided to try it... first of all, playing black metal on an acoustic guitar sounds weird, obviously... but playing it in the first day, that sounded... , in short I decided I should wait for another year until I'll try it again... :)
I'm off topic again...
Any other advice for me?

ok I reached the next level... my back stopped hurting so bad, and my fingers started to hurt now! :)
But hey, at least I managed to make it sound more like a simgle note, but I still need lots of practice with especially the thin E-string...
Anyway, thank you silentmusic... you give good advice!
