I have been playing the guitar for about 2 years and besides taking lessons the thing that has helped me the most is taking a song that I like and then finding the cords and tabs off the internet and going over it over and over until it sounds the way I want it to. At first when I start a song it will sound like crap but after a while I will get the hang of it.
