Hi!
Thanks to the people here I now know that a major chord consists of the 1st,3rd and 5th

Reading this artice http://www.guitartricks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14553 I see that:
A major chord, contains, the First, the Third, and the Fifth notes of A natural scale.................A......C#......E

but how do you count the notes?
I mean looking that this:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
a # b # c # d # e

then C# would be a 6th....if you dont count A as 1 and start from A# it makes sense...but then E becomes an 8th...

How do you do the counting?

I'm sorry if this sounds a bit confusing...but am totally confused myself! :o

Thanks,
Ryan
