Hey everyone,

i am an absolute beginner in trouble, i can't seem to grip the basics! any advice or simple exercises will be brilliant, thanks!

Ok, i have been working solid for a few hours today, i can pull off, hammer on, do some basic notes and i am practising my chords, i can also do the intro to an iron maiden song, are there any exercises you could recomend to really get me going?

There should be tons of stuff on here. Just have a look around and see what's there. I would recommend that you get some scales down. The two main scales are the Major and Minor Pentatonic scales. They are the most widely used... Some guitarists only use Pentatonic scales. So get a grasp on scales and learn about root notes. There should be some tutorials on here. go to riffinteractive.com and click on catalog on the left, then click to list by skill level, and pick one, then pick a lesson... it's how I got started, and helped me understand alot in the beginning, this site has plenty of good stuff too though

Start with easy stuff and move on. The first thing I learned to play was the star spangled banner. Learn some scales and chords. Learn different strumming patterns. There is always something new to learn.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song. :rolleyes:
