Picking Harmonics

Ok i have been playing for some time now and one thing i just can't figuere out for myself is... how the heck do you get harmonics with picking... i mean kind of like Zakk Wilde does... i just don't understand the technique... i've tried to do it with my thum touching the string after the pick but that just really seems to just muffle the string and the sound i get is really quiet...

can anybody help me out?

If you are refering to what I think you are refering to, it is called pinch harmonics and you are doing it right, but to heavily.
You put the pick below the string and your thumb above with only a little bit of the pick sticking out. Then you twist downwards so that your thumb picks down and the pick picks up.
You have gotta practice it or else it will just mute the string like you said.
It is easy after a while.
