I recomend that you buy the Digitech RP80. It has 40 preset and 40 user made efects. It simulates other amp models. And you can get just about any sound out of it with careful programing and it has a very easy to understand manual. It only costs around $70 so not to break the bank. It also has built in effects and tunner and drum machine to practice with. Unlimited things it can do.
If you want something a bit better then look into the Digitech GNX series.
Hope That Helps

Hey there,
If you use Hardcore Power chords with a Metal Pedal, You can easily make awsome songs and usually bands use more than one to make different sounds. For example 2 metal and a wah wah=SLAYER in the Bloodline solo. Just keep that in mind, more than one.

distortion pedals is what you want. you could also get compression, flanger, eq, or noise reduction, but they aren't as important.

You want a distortion pedal or a amp with a nice overdrive channel then crank the gain....
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

The line 6 Uber Metal pedal is supposed to be very good...I use an Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer and I get plenty of dirt when I kick it in. I am currently looking at the VOX COOLTRON BULLDOG DISTORTION PEDAL AND THE RADIAL TONEBONE CLASSIC TRIMODE PEDAL but those are pretty expensive as pedals go. You'll want some kind of noise gate though (MXR Smart gate or Boss Noise reduction pedal)....There are alot of distortion pedals out there - no shortage of choices; you just have to pick what fits your needs and your budget b/c some are very pricey, but pricey does not always mean super thick distortion so do your homework.....

If you can afford it, a couple of top of the line Marshall and MesaBoogie amp heads, Fender guitars and rack mount system... Furhman power conditioner, preamp, EQ, Eventide midi harmonizer, Rocktron switching system....

I have a Rocktron Zombie, it has more distortion than I will ever need and it has a setting on it that is almost like a bias control that lets you pick solid state or rectified type distortion. 59.99 Musicians Friend, great pedal
