you can get filled up with all this theory and all this technics but really what it all comes down to is what sounds good.

its all by ear. feel the notes rather than search for them.

alot of times when i improvise a solo i just start off on the 12th fret of the high e string. it goes with almost anything and then you can find your way from there.
