A worthy response, but not adequate. You see, I am a professional guitarist who actually earns a decent living playing guitar. I am looking for specific pedagogical direction.

so...youre a professional guitar player, and you ask how to copy a guitarist's technique? im pretty sure if youre a devoted follower of his ****, and you have the talent to play his stuff, youre probably the best suited person here to learn how to play his stuff.

...now that IS a logical response. But what I am really hoping to find are some distilled technical formulae that would reveal some elemental aspects of Greg's playing. Anybody?

sorry man, right over my head....
The greatest enemy to what you can know, is what you already know.
It's not how good you play, its how well you play it.

Well buncha, I don't know the guy, or gal, but if you can pick out notes, form chords, group notes into chords, perhaps open tunings (as most far out guitarists do), etc, perhaps hammerons etc, you could find what this person does with ease.
I know several 'professional' guitarists who make money playing three chord progressions, and metal uses one chord.......................
Ok, just googled the guy and he does jazz, from what I hear, and it is just a ramble of jazz chordings and voicings, stutter step beats, etc. It ain't that hard :D
