Who are the most underacknowledged guitarists out there? With talent as good as Yngwie or Segovia but without the name.

You know Joe Perry of Aerosmith huh? Well Brad Whitford his fellow guitarist is awesome, better than Joe perhaps.
And you know Buckethead of the current Guns n Roses, well his guitaring side kick Paul Tobias is way better. Its tobias that plays all the solos that slash once did, but as soon as a guy puts a KFC bucket on his head its him that gets all the attension!!

So just because Tobias plays Slash's leads makes him a "better" guitarist? I refuse to even start an argument on this because I absolutely detest discussing the subject of being "better". As far as the most underacknowledged guitarist goes, I would have to say... that one guy I can't remember :).

I like Willie Nelson. I don't believe that what makes a great guitarist is his ability to play impossibly lightning fast licks but his ability to express. To make the guitar and the guitarist one. And no one does that better than Willie.

Willie nelson knows some fast spanish licks, he plays that beat up guitar with so much energy. Wayne Newton is an awesome blues guitarist, i heard some licks outta that guy that totally threw me back against the wall.

Trey Anastasio, David Gilmore (he could write a solo like no other), Zack Wylde is also absolutely amazing, and more than all Don Ross. Its a debateable topic depending on taste. These are some of a long list of personal favorites.

paul tabias only played the rocket queen solo, the rest were played mostly by robin finck. Anyway, my vote goes for buckethead, he's amazing and his solo in binge and grab is one of the best ever

No he didnt. He doesnt play any solos, hes "a bedroom guitarist", as Slash puts it.

Also Jeff Buckley, I rate as one of the most talented musicians Ive ever heard. Also Izzy Stradlin of GnR, he wrote most of the riffs, and most of Sweet Child O' Mine. Listen to his solo stuff especially the song "Spazed".

Lets see...

Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel is insane, his rhythm and lead abnilities rival most people, and he is fairly creative with the 7 string arangements. Though he is a death metal guitarist so that rules outright that he would get no mention at all.

Jeff Loomis from Nevermore has a well rounded style that has technical ability and musical appeal.

Jason Becker, becasue he got lost in the ages thanks to ALS.

John Schaffer from Iced Earth. Perhaps near the best rhythm guitarist ever. If you've never heard any Iced Earth check out these songs in particular: Dantes Inferno, Stormrider, and Traveler In Stygian.

All honorable mentions but very rarely recognized, well except for Becker for being perhaps one of the best melodic shredders ever...eh, what'y gonna do.
