A New Guitar

Hi all,

I really need help! I have specific requirements for my next guitar however I have yet to find a model matching all of them, so if anyone knows of any could you please post them. Cheers, Luke.

Scalloped fretboard
Lightweight body and normal shape (flying v is ok but not explorer)
Floyd Rose locking trem (doesn't have to be official)
hi-output pickups (active or passive)
and preferably in black :-)

oh and less than £1200 (approx. $1600)

I dont' think you're going to be able to find a production guitar that has a scalloped fretboard. You might want to concider doing a Warmoth project so you can have it exactly like you want. http://www.warmoth.com/

Since you seem like a fan of Kirk Hammet, you might want a KH-2. It has all of your specs eccept scalloped frets.

Cheers, I'll look at both. Someone mentioned that Ibanez wizard necks are quite fast, why is this? Whats special about them?

You seem like a Metallica fan so I would suggest that you save up to $2200 for a KH-2 neck-thru. You could scallop the frets yourself. Go to http://projectguitar.com/tut/scalloped.htm

the thickness and shape make them faster... I have an ibanez that supposedly has the cheaper version of the wizard neck, and it plays pretty nicely. it's one of the few things I actually like about the guitar... but that's because it's a cheap starter guitar... I'd say go to a shop, find one of the ibanezs that has a wizard neck, try it out, and you'll see why people say it's a nice neck!!!
