Shure SM57 is alway's a good choice for recording guitar. It's also great for a variety of other tasks. Basically, it's an industry standard workhorse for a price that's not too bad on your pocketbook.

SM57 is great however if you have a phantom power supply try a cheep large diaphragm condenser like a Behringer. You can pick one up for about 100 bucks. It will be much more sensitive than an SM57 which will be useful if you can't crank your amp.
