Scales?!?!
hi, i have just began learning scales and i am confused my them, i know how to read them and play them, but i dont understand how to use them in music and solos!? i have been learning about them on cyberfret.com. i came across the 5 most common major keys in the scales section of that site, and i dont understand what they are for either! please help me understand scales.

The basic idea is that a song only uses some notes, and not others. The scale of a song defines which notes are "ok" for that song.
If you know you have a song in A minor, and you solo over it in A minor, you will sound like you know what you are doing.
Don't let the wide variety of scales, with all their strange names, confuse you from this basic point.
