depends how you play 'normal' guitar. It's probably about the same...

If you play classical, the hand position is very different to that used by most people for rock on the electric, but there are no right or wrong ways. As long as it works, and it doesn't hurt like hell, it's probably fine...

There are loads of tutorials on this site that show hand position in the video or photos. Maybe try having a look and comparing to how you're doing it?

Naturally new styles occur when transferring from the acoustic guitar to the electric - because of the different possibilities of the instruments. For example, you might discover the facility of the electric guitar, as it allows you to bend strings more easily, and play much faster. Tone is another thing that affects one's style. You aren't going to play classical fingerpicking on a distorted electric guitar.

I reccomend buying some albums of different players (you can probably find some by searching "best guitarist" on the forum search), and listening to their styles. Just as an acoustic guitar could be for country, folk or classical. The electric could be for rock, blues or jazz!

Hope that helps.
