Hi,
Im just here to find out info about retubing my marshall slx. i use groove tube el34's and i need new pre amp tubes so anyone who can reccomend me some let me know. I use a gibson with p90s, play with the volume at 10 and i dont use effects. I like smooth distortion but i hate metal. Id like to use anything that can give me gain without sacraficing a clean tone if i play quiet or back off on the distortion. So far im looking at 12ax7's from groove tube and sovtek but i pretty much dont know anything so please help anyone who knows about my amp and or about tubes. thanks!

p.s. my email is playmusiclouder and ive never used this site before so email would be most helpful. thanks!

I can't recommend Groove Tubes. A lot of hype without really offering anything significantly better.

The major foaming-at-the-mouth Marshall tone-freaks hang out at >The Plexi Palace<, where you can read all about how to get the best tone out of your amp.

Me? I'm happy with JJ tubes.

Talk to Doug at Doug's Tube Store . He really nice and knowledgable guy, and can point you in the right direction, and can also sell you the tubes you need. Or, you could talk to Bob at Eurotubes . He can also hook you up, but he only deals JJ tubes (which are good tubes btw).
