Electric strings are made with steel wire that will work well with the magnetic properties of pickups. Acoustic guitar strings have a steel wire core. but the wrapping wire is usually bronze or phosphor-bronze to get the best tone. You can use lighter gauge acoustic strings to make it easier to play, but the guitar must be adjusted to work with light strings. Electric strings will also work, but they won't sound as good, and the guitar will still need to be set up properly.
