Just in case there's any misconception...there's not a true dark side of the moon. It's just that only one side always faces earth when lit. It's rate of rotation (spin on axis) and it's rate of revolution (earth orbit) are in sync enough to keep one side toward earth. However there are some craters on the pole that are deep enough that never get sunlight at the bottom (it's hoped that there could be frozen ice there).

And a sight to see on the moon wouldn't be a sunrise, but an earthrise! It would also show phases like we see of the moon, except we could make out the cities' glow on the dark half.
