Howdy,
I need a good and fairly inexpensive distortion pedal. I don't have the 80 bucks to go blow on a Boss pedal or anything like that, but a music shop down town is selling some brand new Danelectros for $30. I was just wondering if anyone here had ever used one before and if they were satisfactory.

Also, I have a Morley volume/disortion/wah bass pedal that a guy told me would be ok to use on guitar, but won't that kill my high end?

I have a couple of the Danelectro pedals and they're great. Maybe the best bang for the buck out there. I don't have the distortion pedals, but the flange, chorus and tremolo are great. Seems to me they make good stuff. I'd give 'em a try for sure.

Well, with most things in life, what you pay for is what you get. If you want a $30 petal, you'll get a $30 dollar petal. I've used some of Danelectros Mini Petals and i can say they sound like $30-50 dollar if you catch my drift. If you want something that lasts and might be a better petal, look for something else, but if you need a cheap petal thats sounds ok, that would be fine i guess. Sky
...But mine go to 11...

They aren't the best product out there, but for $30 they are a good investment. Probably the reason you see them so often isn't because of their quality but because to store owners they are a hot product. You know, small, popular items that won't kill their net profit if they don't sell. Anyway, back to the point, yes, they are a good buy for $30 bucks. And any effects/amplifier system that works for bass should work for guitar without trashing the sound unless it was poorly made, really old, or your luck just plain blows.

But I just got thier Cool Cat Chorus pedal and it is way cool.
I'm sure you'll tell the difference between thier $30 dollar Chorus pedal to this top of the line one.

I have a Tuna Sandwich, or Milk Jug, or some kinda food item (who thinks this marketing stuff up, anyway?). Anyway, it's a compressor-line driver. Works good. I use it for that little gain boost for leads.

When a wah goes from being a crybaby to a screaming banshee wail of death, is when you start worrying about the marketing. Tuna sandwich is pretty cool. I want a How about a "Half of last night's leftover curry for breakfat" distortion pedal? It's pretty descritive don't you think, imagine the tone soething like that would make.

For the buck, the Mini Dano's are pretty good. The regular full size Dano's are great! I have the Dan Echo and the Cool Cat (Chorus)...Look around in local pawn shops and used gear stores for good deals. I got the Cool Cat (retail about 80 bucks) for 29.99 at a used shop. Also, check ebay, they have killer deals.

To be honest, I really love my two Danos. I've tried all the large Danos and all the Mini Danos and don't like the minis. The Cool Cat (Chorus) is stereo and has a really "creamy" tone. The Dan Echo can immitate those old great tape echo effects to give you huge Edge or Eric Johnson style delays or quick and snappy slap back effects. I actually had a buddy of mine who's really good with that stuff do it for me. If you go to this site it actually gives you the schematic to do it yourself if your any good with a solder gun. I highly recommend it! It really makes it sound just like the vintage wah pedals.
