If you want a REAL good right hand workout, pick up some Banjo...yes...I said BANJO tab, tune your guitar to open "G" and go through the exercises. Banjo pickers have KILLER right hand technique. Don't worry, you won't sound like an extra on Hee Haw,just learn the right hand patterns and when you retune, you'll probably notice some cool things you couldn't do before. If you have a locking trem on your guitar, just finger a barre chord instead and follow the right hand fingerings. TRUST ME....this works wonders!!!
If your feeling MORE adventurous, keep your pick and use your remaining three fingers as well. Use the pick in place of the thumb...now you're "Hybrid Picking" Using a pick on the Bass strings will keep a crisp low end, plus you don't have to put it down and pick it back up when changing back and forth. It also prevents you from holding the pick between your teeth, and then getting spit and crap all over your strings, (lol).
