to me, the "British" sound is a little more focused in the mid's and the "american" sound is a little more scooped in the mid's. But, that all depends on what genra you're talking about, but generally that's how I feel.

Personally, my tone is very midrange focused, because that's where a guitar's voice is. The other guitarist I play with play's with minimul mid's, and I can play half the volume he playes at and you can still hear me over him.

I just love the punchyness of the midrange.

To sum it up... "British" focused mid's, "American" all over the place... unless you're talking about the root's..... the blue's. Then you have both, and both just seem to "fit".
