buy a different guitar and put seymour duncan's on it ;) good distortion is too personal, not to mention the type of distortion you want and it also depends on the amp and/or pedals.
= good music is good drinking =

Look for something with some hot humbuckers... like a schecter c-1 or an ltd with emg's. People think that the EMG-HZ's are bad EMGs... they're not. They're the passive version of the 81's and 85's. The EMG-HZ's actually are really nice pickups... so look into those to. The duncans you want to look for are the JB/59 set. They get great distortion tones as well as a nice clean sound. Amps and effects can make any guitar sound pretty well as long as you have decent pickups...

Hmm I agree with the JB/59 set being good pickups but man i can't stand those HZ's. I played a beautiful jackson that had some and i was disappointed greatly. They produce an alright clean tone but for that you are better off buying seymour duncans that will perform better in both; distortion and clean. My 2 cents. If anything dimarzio has great pickups. I own EMG's, Dimarzio and Seymours and i cant complain with my dimarzio pickups, their site also has an awesome feature that lets you listen to all the pickups in bridge or neck position.

any tech and most guitar stores will be able to fit new pickups.
I dont know if you get them over there, but there is a new English pickup company called Bare Knuckle pickups...they make a great model called The Warpig, and another called the Nailbomb...both of these have awesome distorion sounds...just great, but also very nice clean...Bare Knuckles pickups are really attracting attention over here, and are used almos exclusively by various custom guitar luthiers here, such as Black Machine guitars and Nathan Sheppard Guitars(so beautiful, see www.nathansheppardguitars.com ). See if you are able to get them where you are.

Well i rekon, a good destortion pedal is all you really need. Altho i use a Randy rhodes loaded with seymore duncans i also get excellent distortion from my switch loaded with a single humbucker(tapped) and my GNX4. The switch is made from vibracel its a kinda plastic but sounds great. Its really about personal choice. Shop around and play around until you find something you like.
