Hello all!

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice towards a direct recording unit for my guitar. The Sans Amp Tri-A.C. looks great as does the MXR "Dime" or "Robert Trujillo" pedal. I think the Mxr pedals are for bass?

I really don't need the bells a whistles of the Gt-8 and I know i hated the distortion on the Gt-3 and other fake stomp boxes. But i need to run direct out so sacrifices must be made. Any help?

I see that you are a brand new member and I really hate to get after you on your first post, but you'll notice at the top of the Open Discussion, Gear Reviews (where you first posted this thread) and Listening Post forums there are stickied threads with forum rules.

YOU NEED TO READ THEM.

Again, I don't mean to be rude but this thread has absolutely no business being in the Gear Reviews forum and you'll surely find that you get much more help with it here rather than there.

Get a second hand V2 Pod (100 bucks on eBay) and run it into your "line in " input into your sound card.

Example:

or

My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

I would go all out and buy a second hand POD XT - almost unlimited sounds for home recording and its designed for direct to pc use...

You might look into getting a Redbox Cabinetulator for about $100 (or about $50 used)
http://www.wicasta.com/music/gear/mk2.html

It goes into the send/receive of any effects unit and does a great job of eliminating that 'cheese' sound from most overdrive pedals.
I've been using it on my Boss ME-5 for years and couldn't do without it.

Another option is to use Amplitube. You can get a decent simulation of just about any amp/cabinet combination on the market including Marshalls JCM's, Fender Reverbs and AC-30's

I use Guitar Tracks Pro by Cakewalk.

You gotta look hard and far to find anything that beats the feature for dollar point of this software.

Downside, you must have a good soundcard for accurate results. Also, effects must be "applied" to your recorded tracs. They're not real time.

Upside, too numerous to list! 32 channel mixer, Mega-effects (see above) Apmlitube-Le built in. This is a serious studio for < $150!

I've got some stuff I've done with this software if interested. Just shoot me an email

Cheers...Randy

PS. you might want to move this to the "Recording Forum"

Have the POD 2.0 and love it. I can great my own sounds with it or go to their site and get settings for some great "known" sounds. It's easy to use. I recommend it.
