I had the same problem when I learned to play guitar... I could play absolutly anything with just 3 fingers because I have long and skinny fingers. However, when I got more into theory and technique I wanted to learn how to do it the right way... I did want most people do. I got a scale book and ran through scales up and dow, back and forth until I could play just as well with all four fingers. It helped me learn scales, helped with overall speed, and it helped with dexterity. Just have to committ yourself to it and practice.
I found an exercise on here that helped me out with it... but I forget who wrote it or even what it was called. Basically though the excercise was just a little riff that had a bunch of hammer ons with your pinkie and ring finger. So to help work out your pinkie, just do a bunch of hammer ons with it. Or you probably can find a lesson on here that'll help you out with it. Word.

Try some simple tapping riffs like this... They'll force you to go a lot faster than picking and you'll get more exercise in the pinky and third finger cause you have to hammer each note.

i've had problems with it too. I can play most chords ewasily now but when i realised i actually had to use my pinkie it was much harder to do and weaker. I still cant use it properly!
Trill using the first 4 frets of a string, one finger per fret. Trill between all finger pairs:
1,2 1,3 1,4 2,3 2,4 3,4
Builds strength and co-ordination. Worked for me. I used it for legato exercise, but you could pick it for a right hand workout as well.... no jokes please...
