I'd take the Tele...
Of course, I've already got a pair of Yamaha SBG1000's.
And I'd far rather build my own out of custom parts than pay Fender prices for something I'd be modifying anyways.

I assume you mean mex tele.... but in either case i would go for tele all the way..i have both and i would recommend tele 100%. Unless you play some heavy music...
WWSD? What would stevie do?

That depends on what Tele you wre wanting...and what music you are playing.
I assume that if you have the cash to get an American Tele, you would have the cash to go for a Gibson, not Epi, so I will also assume you mean a standard or mex tele.
I own a Gibson Les Paul and love it so much, but if it were a choice between those two tho, I would probably go with the Tele, always have loved them, even tho I own none,I think they are awesome guitars.

It doesn't matter the price because the guy said "ignoring price".. Go for the Tele....if you play metal, get a hot-rails...I've got one and I don't play metal. The hotrails really opens the guitar up.

It depends what sound you want, they both make very different noises !
LPs, well they sound like LPs and teles are famous for their "twang"
It is a bit like asking "should I get a steak or a burger"
