Steve Stevens shotgun like effect

Hey y'all!

I'm new at the forum, though not that new to guitar. Hope I can both learn from and to this forum :)

Anyhow. Steve Stevens played a guitar solo in Billy Idols "Rebel Yell" where he does this guitar trick. It seems like a combination of heavy whammy bar wanking and palm mute while sliding his hand down the neck on the lower strings.

Or like barrage of lazer shots as a friend of mine called it.

So, if anyone can describe this tecnique, or referr to an explanation of it, I would be very thankfull.

Shotgun huh? I would wager that the technique Steve seemed to have used was produced in the Studio. A lot of the tricks are easy to accomplish when you have 50 million $ worth of electronic gear at your disposal. EVH sure did a lot of gnarly effects with just the guitar and whammy.
