Hi all,

It's my number one time at this forum and I'm gonna ask a question that'll probably make a lot of you go "How many times have we covered that?"

All I can say is I don't know why, but I just can't get this to work. Here goes.

When you do pinch harmonics, do you keep light pressure on the string at the harmonic point, or do you just touch it for a short time like regular harmonics and let it go? The lessons here say you lightly touch it with your thumb but I can't tell if you're supposed to keep it there. I've watched some of the videos but can't tell.

I've tried both ways and can't yet get it to sound like it does in the audio files here. (Which are really excellent by the way...awesome site),

Thanks!

If I had to say what a pinched harmonic was to save my life, I guess I'd have to say that a pinched harmonic is a harmonic that looks a bit red because it has been pinched!
Not everyone here is a theory/guitar god. You're probably bette than a whole bunch of us.
Wellcome to GT.

Thanks everybody for the big welcome! And to KD, who am I to argue with that? If you want to think that I am a lot better than a whole bunch of you, hey, of course I am!

Thanks

Dunno how the lesson covered it, but keep in mind the pitch of the harmonic can change depending on where you hit it. You may find some easier than others, so move your picking hand around a bit. Also it may be easier to get on yer bass strings at first.

Personally I'll turn my pick towards my palm a little so I stroke the string with pick and thumb simultaneously.
