inspiration
Hey everyone, just want to introduce my self. my name is jesse and i am a guitar lover like all the rest of you. i guess guitar has evolved to be my greatest inspiration and, at points, has been the fixed light in times of depression. i'm from San Diego, heading to college in the fall, and ready to turn up the heat by learning some new skills ....i'd like to know if anyone is willing to share their inspiration when it comes to playing? mine would have to be my dad and listening to Led Zeppelin on his records

Yep, I share the heavy Zeppelin influence. I know more Zep songs than any other band, so they've definitely affected my playing. As for other inspiration, I've found that location can be important. For instance, I've written cool songs sitting in a nice park or on the beach that just wouldn't have come about sitting in my room. Also, I jones to play after seeing others play live, be it a concert or just at a bar.
And welcome by the way! Don't forget to check out the lessons round 'dees parts.

Hi everyone,
I'm Gearoid, ro Ger if you prefer. i'm from Ireland,i'm 20.
i'm playing about 5yrs now.
My two big inspirations musically are Phil Lynott and Rory Gallagher.
obviously i cant play guitar anything like Rory or any of the members of Lizzy, but it's something to aim for. i'm really interested in learning more bluesey types guitar techniques and some of the celtic styles that rory often introduced to the regular blues patterns and certainly was evident in some of Lizzy's work.
other than that i like Ramones, Oasis, Chili peppers,Neil Young and l=alot of other stuff aswell.

Welcome to the site to the both of you. Hope you enjoy your stay, and don't be a stranger!
As far as where I get my inspiration from... My mother is my real inspiration. She was very talented at everything she did. She was a wonderful pianist, and had an amazing voice. She alway's made sure that music was a part of my life, and for that, I am forever gratefull. She passed away a little over 6 years ago, so she never really got to hear me much out of my begginer/intermediate stage. But, everytime I pick up my guitar I like to think that she's up there in heaven listening to me play. Music has helped me get through a lot of hard times, and it has let me meet a lot of cool people. So, if it weren't for music, I would probably either be dead or in some mental institute  (I probably need to be in one anyway, but that's beside the point :D )

I hear that.
Music is pretty much something I need to do to keep going.
