hello all,
i got a little question about guitar picks:

what kind would you advise: the broad rounded triangle kind or more the ones with the "teardrop" form? Thing is, i play both the simple powerchords (e.g.misfits, sex pistols...) as the faster solo's (e.g. iron maiden, guns 'n roses...), but i have no idea if the broader kind makes it more difficult to play the faster solo's or not...

I happened to have a picture of some guitarpicks I've used during the years ..
some of the more innovative picks are from Darva I think but
for me, nothing even come close to Jim Dunlop JAZZ III I love them :)
different picks
have a good one

Hey, i have never used the jazz 111. but i use this ibanez pick its only 1.20mm thinck but i find thats pleanty thick enough for rhythm and solo playing. But i dont think it had a specific name but it is quite pointy and comfortable to hold.
Jk
Why doesn't my amp go up to 11, :(

Hey Ken,

what are the pair of picks on the top left corner of your pick? The look like plugs.

hello!

those are just miniswitches that was on the samepicture and I was too lazy to remove them :)

(I use those for a little stratocaster modification that I like, it is described here:
http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/allpickups.php
it's called neck on switch) which basically allow you to switch your neck pickup on and off combined with any other pickup)

have a good one..

Billy Gibbons of ZZTop uses a mexican peso [coin]. Not the fastest pick in the world in my experience; but if you want the nastiest tone on the planet the peso is what you want. A Quarter just won't do. The only thing that might come close to a peso might be a Mapel leaf from Canada.

The Black ones are @ 1.30 mm, the red ones are a bit thinner. The pointy tip and the small surface:string ratio allow you to get in and out of the strings quicker. Great for speed and pinch harmonics, but for me anyway, the best thing about em' is the smaller size puts my hand in a much more comfortable position for Hybrid picking. Plus, the raised letters give a good gripping surface.
Ever try the Dunlop "Stubbies"? The ones I used to use was 3mm thick and looked like a purple cough drop!!! Sure was great for speed picking though...
