what should I practice

I sing vocals in a band...I would love to play rhym guitar though...i bought a guitar and i have been practicing ...but i am not one of those musicly inclined people ...I'm ok as a writer and my vocals sounds nice..but i wish to put my songs to my own music...I have had a guitar for about 2 months...im not looking to be Hendrix ...I would be satisfied with Cobain...I just need some guidence toward what to practice ...I would apreciate any advicefrom an accomplished guitarist

I have checked out the beginers section and its real informative ...i would just like a resopnse from a personal view...i just wanna learn how to work the guitar for rythems...lots of barre cords...strumming ..i just need hints on basics...if there are any rythem guitarist...i would love input ...any tabs to practice would be cool too...basic cords....any thing ..thanks again
