This is kinda a cheat, but the best solo I ever heard was actually a keyboard solo done by the old keyboard player for SAGA on their song 'Give em the Money'
It's a classic 'guitar' type solo with tons of taste and soul, plus a few runs that are almost impossible to play on guitar.
The solo ends with a duet between the keys and guitar and is probably one of the best examples of making a keyboard sound like a guitar.

Apparenlty I haven't listened to as many songs as you guys have.
One of my favorites is Stand Here With Me - Creed.
There are others but I can't think of them.
Darn.

I am like three years older than you, and I knew of Randy wat your age...so go out, buy youself "Blizzard of Oz" (tis the best of the two Ozzy/randy albums) by Ozzy, sit and listen to Mr Crowley, Crazy Train, Goodbye to Romance and Suicide solution...you should then be educated to a satisfactory extent...tho after that, I presume you will be hunting for more Randy stuff...Tribute by Ozzy (a live show featuring Randy) is awesome, as is Diary of a Madman...awesome stuff...
I feel like crying just thinking about it... :(

The whole story behind Randy...he was young and absolutely amazing...Randy was just awesome, my favourite guitarist and a player whose songs are generally very sentimental to me(and many others)...he played with Ozzy in his solo debut line-up(from 1980-1982) and saved the old mans carreer...Ozzy even admits this.
Randy died in 1982, but he is certainly not gone...he influenced me more with one lick in 3 seconds than Pope John-PaulII did in 18years...and he was dead 4 years before I was even born...RIP
(I'm sure he is ripping it up with Dime, Jimi, Stevie and Paul Jeff Buckley)

what's wrong with people's taste of music, lame lame, and lamest as ever, the word solo and iron maiden can't be together, and petrucci's solo is gay, people miss jimi, jimmy and eddie van halen's solos and that's stupid, more pink floyd is appreciated like money, time ... what's about srv, oi sbbath's and queen's , oi
where's grateful dead, deep purple, ... another word to describe : lame

I dissagree, but keep in mind that Randy only got until he was 25,whereas Zakk in now 38ish and has therefore had an extra 13 years to refine his craft...
Either Way,both are amazing guitarists.

Oh is that what you meant...I thought you were saying that Zakks playing destroyed Randys ie. Zakk=better than Randy, but as it turns out...I am on the same side as you! Randy was awesome,a true shred pioneer and GUITAR LEGEND! but Zakk is good too, just not that good!
