A friend of mine is offering me a Line 6 POD for $180. I think I know the answer but, is it a good investment, and can anyone tell me about their experiences with it?

Is it a PodXT (LCD screen in the middle) or a V2.

It is not a bad price for a pod XT however you can get a Pod V2 NEW for 200 bucks.

Pods are great.

I have a Pod Pro and it is on of the best bits of kit I have ever owned.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

heh,Ive been eyeing the PODXT myself...If that little bean can operate as an outboard device(meaning the software acknoleges that its there)then I may be able to eliminate the latency issues that have prevented me from recording...

Anyone use an XT to record through the usb that can comment on it?I don't need super results since I can tweak everything at mixdown.I just want the signal to arrive faster than 2 seconds(serious).

The PODxt is great. I've never had any latency issues recording with the 1/4" out's or the USB. Only problem I've had, is my computer almost locking up when recording with the USB, but that could be due to how it's set up. I'll have to check on that when I have time. If you do record with the USB, you will have to hook your monitors up to your PODxt's 1/4" outs to be able to hear what you're playing. When using the USB for recording, the XT takes the role of your soundcard.

$180 is a good price for the PODxt used, but if it's the older POD version 2, then that's pretty high. I'd give $100-120.
