hey, i've just installed a P90 and a motherbucker into my guitar and the P90 seemd a little hot...so i decided to record some chords clean into my PC (nothing fancy, just plugged straight into the mic in and recorded using abode audition). so anyway, i did one with the P90 and one with the motherbucker- all 4 coils, series wired.

the P90 is toooo high, is there any way to fix it?

the top and bottom of each shot is the limit it records cleanly at- ie anything higher or lower causes clipping. so the P90 clips alot and the MB is clean.

im using a 500k dual concentric pot for each pup...so there any way to dial down the P90s output? space is premium in there but theres a routed middle single coil space and possibly a BIT of space inth e contro cavity, not much though.

cheers

edit: thats not the exact same time in the recording to compare, but it was just 3 chords strummed repeatedly and the levels were the same allt he way through

If all of the guitar controls are maxed, and the levels are that different, I'm thinking your Motherbucker is way weak. A P90 usually puts out a level between a Strat-type single coil and a normal humbucker. The P90 is basically just a large single coil pickup. The MB should have about half-again as much output.

Maybe a dumb question, but are you absolutely sure you have them both wired in series?

yeh well the P90 has to be series right, theres only 2 wires...and the MB...that has a switch for series/parellel...im not sure whether its series wired as in all 4 coils one after the other or just both hotrails wired in seiries but connected in parellel with each other

heres the schem i used, someone on the roject guitar forums drew it though. I fixed the P90's hotness but the MB is still low output :( the MB also had a link across on one setion of the super switch from 3 to 2 where solder has run down the lug towards the actual moving part and stoped it moing so i heated it up and moved it left n right- the solder had linked positions 2 and 3...which was why i was having problems with the sereis.parellel switch working in position 2!!! fixed now and its kinda improved it but still not maximum output...can someone check that schem to see if it is wired to max output if i have the middle position with series switch?
