Hello All, I am new to this forum. I was looking for funk licks and found some really nice ones here. Anyway, how high do you like your strings at the 12th fret? I like mine at about 2mm but i wanted to know how low you like yours. Thanks for the input.

p.s. If you know where I can find any other funk licks, post a link if you would. It would be much appreciated.

That seems real low. But if your strings don't buzz, great. For my tone I like a high action [5mm] and heavy strings [12s]. Welcome FunKay!

I used to setup all my guitars with 009 set strings and the stringheight as low as possible ... for 15 years I always had it that way ..and somehow I got an idea to just change and try something else so I switched to 0.10 strings and adjusted my strings to about 4mm at the 12'th fret (which is alot more than I was used to)

After a week I was totally amazed, my technique got so much better and my guitar sounded million times better, better tone/sustain/attack ... it really motivated me to learn more and improved my bending skills alot ...

Now I wouldn't go back for the world ... been a year since I switched ...
changed my acoustic as well to 0.11 bronze strings .. and that also made a big difference (not as much as the electric though)

okie dokie..
have a good one
