I've never used them, but I've heard they are not good. Supposedly any guitar with them looses its value. Just hear-say, I do not have an actual opinion.

I just bought the gold lace sensor for my Ibanez S470DXQM. I can post a follow up after I install it this weekend and let you know.

Peace,

I always kinda liked them, especially the Golds.

The best thing to do is see if you can't find a few used guitars at your local guitar shops that have them and see what you yourself think of them.

We all have opinions, but what your own ears tell you is all that really matters.

K, I installed the Lace sensor this weekend (and 2 SD Pups as well) in my Ibanez S470DXQM. Very responsive to pick attack and gives me a kewl strat tone. It is in the center position (I have HSH) and it just rocks.

I installed a TBX tone control and it seems to work well with the Lace. The TBX does NOT seem to work as well with the 2 humbuckers though. They just seem to sound the same no matter how the tone control is adjusted. I think imma take it out and put in a regular tone pot.

Just a note for Ibo2, I had to swap the volume and tone pots to get the TBX to fit. something to keep in mind if you ever wanted to try this yerself.

Peace,

I have hot gold lace sensor pickups and I love them. They have a lot more out put than my other pickups. I switched out some SCNoiseless pickups on my clapton strat for them and they're suit me just fine. I'm think about getting golds for the neck and middle though. I like to play a lot of r&b and jazzy sounding stuff too (using position 2 on a strat 5-way) and they are just too hot!!! It's all up to your ears though. Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Buddy Guy have all used them so they can't really be that bad.

I loaded my strat with Texas specials. They are like nothing I've ever heard or played. Stunning and awesome blues tone.Very SRV if that's your bag. Personally I would steer away from LACE pickups. But each to his own. If you want quiet pickups you will have to replace your single coils but I feel that this takes away the character of a good ol' strat sound. Better off trying a noise gate on your amp instead and try to retain that authentic single coil tone.

i have three gold lace sensors in my strat and i believe the tbx really kicks on the Rhythm pickup, and is great for claptons sound, because he uses them himself.
